Past Lives and a Yacht

ASOR II

This is a photo of my great-great grandfathers 120 ft. yacht. Capt. Mulford Martin of the American Yacht Club in Rye, NY.

"When She was launched in 1908, Asor II was the largest gas-engine yacht ever built.Powered by twin 4 cycle motors of 300 hp each, the yacht reached speeds of 28 knots.Asor II was built of light steel. 3/16" plating below the waterline and 1/8" plating above the waterline on a steel angle frame. The seams were lapped, cold riveted (hand hammered), and countersunk, which produced a smooth skin. Red lead-soaked canvas was applied between the lapped steel plating to seal the seams. Designer William Gardner developed the nal design after extensive testing using 20' hull models in the government testing tank at Washington, D.C." Nye, City Nautical Museum

Mulford's 20 year old son, John, took the other family boat out of the harbour one day. With his chauffeur to aid him, they set out for a day on the water. A sudden storm approach and the boat hit a swale and capsized. Both men on board drown.

Fate would strike again in the Martin's next generation. My grandfathers brother, William Cabot Martin was in Canada working on his thesis. He was a Harvard student of anthropology and was studying the Labrador Indians , just as his grandfather did before him. (William Brooks Cabot, In Northern Labrador-pub. 1912)

While working on his thesis, he drown in an accident. That was in 1952, he was 20 years old.

Fast forward to present day. I am the great, great granddaugther of Mulford Martin and William Brooks Cabot. Years ago before I knew about my ancestors drowning accidents, I was told by a person who studies chiromancy (or palmistry) that I drown in a past life. She said that I have a circled mark on my hand that confirmed this theory.

Interesting, but nothing to worry about because it doesn't mean I will drown in this life, only that I may have died in an accidently drowning in a past life. Perhaps I am John or William reincarnated. Perhaps that is why I am so fascinated with this side of my family tree.

The strange thing is-- my son has the same mark, in the same spot, on the same hand.

Kids are magical!

I went to Egypt on a spiritual vision quest of sorts. While I was there, I had a charm made that said my name in Arabic. OK, not a charm, more like BLING!

Many years later I was lying in bed with my 4year old son. He had a high fever and I was getting concerned as it hit 102.

He was so precious lying there and all he wanting was me to cuddle with him. He reached up and held my charm, that hung around my neck, in his tiny hand and continued to rub it for a few minutes. He then began to tell me a story.

He said, "Jesus gave this to you. You were there with his bruder (brother). When he was dying, oh don't worry mommy, Him not dead. Him went up to be with his big friends."

Its my belief that he was connecting with some source of Universal information. Perhaps the fever put him in a space of least resistance. Where he was open to his higher senses. However, he has had many similar experiences since but without the fever.

For instance, my husband and I once vaguely mentioned to each other that we'd like to take a snow skiing trip the following winter. My son came home later that day and said, " I think we should go to the snow, I want to build a snowman!" It was the middle of summer. This sort of thing happens daily with him. We are so use to it that my husband and I have a certain look that we give each other to validate the event. (it's a "I didn't say anything, he's doing it again", look)

What my little guy didn't know was: I found out my necklace DID NOT say my name. His pediatrician is Arabic and she said my charm says a name that means "Savior".
